This could also affect the glue which is under the bridge could deteriorate, which might cause the bridge to come off.

Be sure to clean the fretboard on a regular basis. Build up of particles and other things will buildup and could block the strings if it gets too high.

Try to change the strings on a regular basis. Older strings can break off and possibly hit you. Changing the strings will improve the sound of your guitar.
